FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck Receives FACS Sustainability Champion Award

Statement from Supervisor Storck:

I was honored to be recognized by the Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS) with their annual Sustainability Champions Award. FACS and its large corps of volunteers serves the Mount Vernon District community, and greater Fairfax County, through advocacy and education to help develop local solutions to the climate crisis. Through its Fairfax to Zero Campaign, FACS organizes and empowers individuals and groups to become champions of climate change action in their communities, influencing moral climate policies, and affecting change through the climate positive action of its members.

I have appreciated the support my office has enjoyed from FACS members through multiple meetings and regular communications on a variety of climate change issues. They are informed, highly engaged and easy to work with. Our interactions over the last year and a half helped inform the Fairfax Green Initiatives Board Matter and other environmental advocacy and initiatives advanced by our office. FACS’ engagement with other Board offices also likely led to the unanimous approval of the Board Matter by the Board of Supervisors in February. I look forward to our continued collaboration.
